Hyaluronic Acid Fillers
What Are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are injectable treatments made from hyaluronic acid (HA), a substance your body naturally produces to keep skin hydrated and plump. As you age, you gradually lose volume in the face. Cheeks flatten. Lips thin. Deeper lines become more noticeable. HA fillers restore that lost volume and provide structural support beneath the skin's surface, smoothing contours and giving you a refreshed, natural look.
At Oak City MedAesthetics on Falls of Neuse Road, Sarah Walker, FNP-C, uses a curated selection of premium fillers tailored to your facial anatomy and goals. Subtle lip enhancement, cheek augmentation, jawline definition: Sarah approaches every treatment with an artist's eye and a clinician's precision. She takes the time to understand your vision and designs a plan that enhances your natural features. Never overdone. Always authentically you.
Hyaluronic acid fillers are also completely reversible. If you ever want to adjust your results, an enzyme called hyaluronidase can dissolve the filler. That's a built-in safety net most clients love knowing about. You'll see results right away, with final results settling in at about two weeks. Depending on the area treated, fillers can last six to eighteen months.
Treatment Areas
Fillers work across many areas of the face. Here are the most popular spots we treat.
Lips
Lip filler adds volume, defines the lip border, improves symmetry, and smooths fine vertical lip lines. It's one of our most popular treatments in Raleigh, and we can go as subtle or as full as you'd like. Results look and feel natural, with soft, smooth movement.
Cheeks
Cheek filler restores the lift and volume that naturally fades over time. Replacing lost volume in the mid-face creates a more defined contour, lifts the lower face, and softens nasolabial folds. No surgery needed.
Jawline & Chin
Jawline contouring with filler creates a sharper, more defined profile. Chin filler can improve projection and balance facial proportions. Together, these treatments sculpt a stronger, more harmonious lower face for both women and men.
Under Eyes & Nasolabial Folds
Under-eye filler corrects hollows and dark shadows that make you look tired, even when you're well-rested. Nasolabial fold filler softens the deep lines running from your nose to the corners of your mouth, giving you a smoother, more rested look.
What to Expect
Your filler appointment is comfortable, personalized, and designed around your goals.
1. Consultation
Your filler treatment starts with a real conversation. Sarah will assess your facial anatomy, talk through your goals, and recommend a customized plan. This is your time to ask questions and understand exactly what to expect. No pressure, just honest guidance.
2. Treatment
The treatment itself takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes. A topical numbing cream is applied for comfort, and most fillers contain built-in lidocaine to minimize any sensation during injection. You'll see immediate results as volume is restored and contours are refined right before your eyes.
3. Recovery
Recovery is minimal. You might see some mild swelling, tenderness, or bruising at the injection sites for a day or two. Avoid strenuous activity for 24 hours. Your full results settle in at about two weeks, and depending on the area and product used, fillers typically last six to eighteen months. We see clients from across North Raleigh, Wake Forest, and the Triangle, and most are back to their normal routine the same day.

Dermal fillers typically last 6 to 18 months depending on the treatment area and product used. Lip fillers tend to metabolize faster, usually lasting 6 to 12 months, while fillers placed in the cheeks and jawline often last 12 to 18 months. Touch-up treatments can maintain your results seamlessly over time.
A topical numbing cream is applied before treatment, and most dermal fillers contain lidocaine for added comfort during injection. Most clients describe the sensation as mild pressure rather than pain. The experience is very tolerable, and Sarah works at a pace that keeps you comfortable throughout.
Yes. Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase if needed. This provides a built-in safety net and is one of the reasons HA fillers are the most popular choice for facial rejuvenation. Reversal is rare but available should you ever need it.
Filler pricing varies by treatment area. Lip enhancement starts at $400-$675, cheek augmentation at $675 and up, and smokers lines or marionette lines at $400 and up. Botox and other neuromodulators relax muscles to prevent dynamic wrinkles like frown lines and crow's feet. Dermal fillers add volume and smooth static lines that are visible even at rest. Many clients get both: Botox for the upper face and fillers for the mid and lower face. Together, they cover a lot of ground.
